5. How to Create Your First Field Job in Dusk FSM

## 📌 Add your first field job from scratch in Dusk FSM.

Creating your first job in Dusk FSM is fast and intuitive. Whether you’re planning one-time work or building a repeatable workflow, this walkthrough guide and video walks you through creating a new job using the Work module.

## ✅ Step-by-Step: Creating a Job
### Step 1: Open the Work Menu
Click Work from the left sidebar.

**Note:** This name can be customized via Admin → System Settings → General → Work Module Name

### Step 2: Click +Work
Select + Work to open the work creation form.

### Step 3: Choose Your Job Type
Click Create Single Task Work to begin. This option is ideal for standalone jobs that will be scheduled and dispatched to field staff using the Calendar.

If you haven’t created a field form yet or want to create a field form specifically for your workflow, you’ll need to do that first. The small Form icon next to the Work Type field can be clicked to do that and the article explains how to configure the field form. Field forms define what data your technicians capture when completing the job. This article walks through how to do that:

### 📝 Fill in the Job Details
Some fields may be pre-filled to help you get started. You can update them as needed:

| Field                | Description                                                                                                   |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Reference**        | Give the job a meaningful label (e.g. “Site Inspection – North”). Doesn't need to be unique.                  |
| **Allocated Time**   | Set how long the job should take, including travel. Format: `30m`, `1h`, etc.                                 |
| **Type**             | Select a work type (e.g., Field Form). You can create new Field Forms by clicking the form icon to the right. |
| **Association**      | Choose one: Customer, Asset, or Inventory (based on your sign-up selections).                                 |
| **Associated Value** | Depending on the association, choose from the drop down: Name, Asset ID, or Inventory Code.                                       |
| **Start / End Time** | Set the job’s scheduled window.                                                                               |
| **Assign Resource**  | Choose a Staff member, Contractor, or Crew.                                                                   |

## 🚦 When You’re Ready to Proceed
- Click Save if you want to finish the job setup later

- Click Dispatch to assign the job immediately to your selected resource

**Note:** Dispatch becomes available once all required fields (marked with ) are completed.

## 💡 Pro Tip
Use Fast Job Create (⚡ icon in the top bar) after your first few jobs. It speeds up recurring job creation with default settings like Type, Form, and Priority.
