Dusk FSM’s **AI-powered Staff and Contractor Scheduler** is designed to simplify complex workforce scheduling by combining intelligent staff suggestions, real-time availability checks, and shift validation.

The scheduler evaluates operational rules and real-time data to ensure the **right person is assigned to the right Work at the right time**, whether you are scheduling a single task or coordinating thousands of Work items across teams.

This intelligence is applied consistently across the **Calendar**, **Gantt**, and **Map** views.

## Key Scheduling Capabilities

### Intelligent Staff Suggestions

The AI scheduler evaluates multiple criteria to recommend suitable staff or contractors for each Work item, including:

* **Shift matching**
  Ensures the staff member is on shift for the scheduled time window.

* **Skills alignment**
  Matches required skills defined on the Work.

* **Regional alignment**
  Prioritises staff within the Work’s region or service area.

* **Leave and availability checks**
  Excludes staff who are unavailable or on approved leave.

* **Crew and team constraints**
  Prevents conflicts with existing Work assignments.

When available, a **wand icon** appears to surface AI-recommended resources.
Visual indicators highlight potential issues such as missing skills, off-shift assignments, or regional mismatches.

## AI Support During Work Creation

When creating Work from the **Create Work** screen:

1. Start and end dates and times are defined.
2. Staff are selected using the **Assign** control.
3. The scheduler filters out unavailable resources automatically.
4. Warnings appear if a selected resource is off-shift or conflicts with availability rules.

If Work is later rescheduled outside a staff member’s shift, the scheduler re-evaluates availability and surfaces warnings before dispatch.

When scheduling from the **Calendar View**:

* Unassigned Work appears in a left-hand panel.
* Work can be dragged onto specific days and time slots.
* The scheduler validates staff availability immediately.

Rescheduling Work from the calendar triggers the same rule validation in real time.
