## How to Use Schedule Optimizer Stage 2 Optimization in Dusk FSM

The **Schedule Optimizer** is Stage 2 of Dusk FSM's optimization engine. It is designed for **daily planning**, allowing dispatchers to allocate jobs and generate efficient routes across teams using advanced rules and business logic.

Unlike Stage 1, this optimization stage applies **customizable sliders, tie-breakers**, and (optionally) routing enhancements to maximize schedule efficiency and job coverage.

### Where to Access

You can access the Schedule Optimizer in two ways:

#### ✅ Option 1: From Stage 1 (Preview Optimization)

* After clicking **Preview Optimization** in the Job Summary screen, the system opens the Schedule Optimizer
* The selected **date range** carries through automatically

#### 🛠️ Option 2: From the Main Menu

* Go to **Administration → Optimizer** in the left-hand menu
* This allows you to:

* Select a different date
  * Access and configure **scoring weights**, **tie-breakers**, and **batch mode**
  * Run daily optimization independently of the Job Summary view

### How It Works

* ✅ Starts with the **Dusk FSM Greedy Engine** for base matching
* ✅ Applies **custom weights and business rules**
* ⚙️ **Optionally uses Graphhopper** for refined route sequencing
* ✅ Allows full control of scoring sliders, constraints, and batch logic

### Optimizer Settings Screen

Before running the optimizer, you can fine-tune how jobs are matched and sequenced using the **Optimizer Settings screen**:

#### Key Scoring Weights

* **Distance** – Prioritize short travel distances
* **Window Urgency** – Increase priority for jobs close to their due window
* **Workload** – Balance staff capacity
* **Priority Boost** – Emphasize higher-priority jobs
* **Skills Penalty** – Penalize non-matching skill assignments
* **Cert Penalty** – Penalize missing certifications
* **Overtime Penalty** – Discourage overtime allocation
* **Shift Slack Reward** – Reward staff with buffer after their jobs
* **Skill Mode** – Block jobs with missing skills (“Hard”) or allow (“Soft”)

#### Priority Mapping

Map your job priority labels to numeric values (e.g., Urgent = 1, High = 2) to influence weighting during optimization.

#### Tie-Breakers

Use tick boxes and reorder arrows to define how Dusk FSM resolves equally weighted job options. Includes:

* Higher priority first
* Certified technician first
* Shortest travel
* Least workload
* More shift slack after finish
* Full skill match
* Shortest job duration
* Technician available sooner
* Earliest window end

### Batch Mode

Define the **ordering logic for “Optimize All”**. Common options include:

* **Earliest window end first**
* **Priority-based job order**

### Example Use Case

A dispatcher needs to schedule 60 jobs across 10 team members for the next day. Using the Schedule Optimizer, they apply skill match bias, set travel distance as a low priority, and define urgency-based batch order. The result is a draft plan that balances staff workloads, matches jobs to certified workers, and honors SLAs.

### Notes

* This is the **most configurable** optimization stage
* Use sliders and settings to align with your field operation rules
* Works well for next-day planning or high-volume dispatching
* Preview, adjust, and then dispatch the final plan from the same screen
