Dusk FSM includes a powerful, built-in optimization engine designed to support field service operations of all sizes. Whether you're allocating a handful of jobs or managing hundreds across shifting priorities, Dusk FSM provides **three stages of optimization**, each designed for different scheduling needs.

### 📘 What Is Optimization in Dusk FSM?

Optimization in Dusk FSM refers to the system’s automated logic that:

* Assigns the right **staff or contractor** to each job
* Recommends the most **efficient job sequence** for the day
* Dynamically adjusts job orders and assignments based on real-time conditions

The Dusk FSM engine applies business rules such as region, shift, skills, SLA targets, and more. You can also enhance route sequencing with optional support from **Graphhopper**, a third-party routing service that can be enabled if needed.

## 🔹 Stage 1: Job Summary → Optimize Now

This is the **quickest optimization tool** for reassignment of unallocated jobs.

**How it works:**

* ✅ **Always uses the Dusk FSM Greedy Engine** for a first-pass allocation
* ❌ **Does not use routing services** unless system config is updated
* ❌ **Does not apply sliders or weights** from Settings
* ✅ Uses basic filters: **Date Range**, **Staff**, **Region**, etc.

**Purpose:**
Designed for fast reassignment of jobs without needing to open each one. Great for cleaning up unallocated work efficiently.

## 🔹 Stage 2: Schedule Optimizer (Daily Route Optimization)

This stage is used to optimize **daily job order and assignments** in bulk.

**How it works:**

* ✅ Begins with the **Dusk FSM Greedy Engine** to identify best-fit staff
* ⚙️ **Optionally uses routing** (via Graphhopper) if enabled
* ✅ Applies all available **sliders and weights** from the Optimization Settings screen:

* Distance
  * Skill Match
  * Shift Adherence
  * Region preferences
  * Start policy preferences

> 🔧 *Graphhopper is an optional paid add-on* used only to enhance route order after jobs are allocated.

**Purpose:**
Builds a smart daily plan that balances business rules and logistics. Optimized job order is sent directly to the staff or contractor via the mobile app.
