Frequently Asked Questions About Multi Task Work in Dusk FSM

## 📌 Frequently Asked Questions About Multi Task Work in Dusk FSM

Multi Task Work in Dusk FSM is designed for structured project delivery, multi-step execution, and complex operational programs. It supports task hierarchies, scheduling, collaboration, risk management, budget tracking, and reporting, all within the Dusk FSM platform.

---

## ✅ Imports and Structure

**Q: Can Dusk FSM import Multi Task Work plans from Microsoft Project or Excel?**
A: Yes. Dusk FSM supports importing structured Multi Task Work plans from **Microsoft Project** and **Excel**, helping customers transition existing project plans into the platform. Imports can include task hierarchies, start and end dates, dependencies, and other supporting fields.

---

**Q: Does Dusk FSM support complex structures like WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)?**
A: Dusk FSM supports **parent and child task relationships** out of the box. For full WBS-style hierarchies with deeper multi-level breakdowns, some customization may be required depending on the format and complexity of the plan you are importing.

---

## ✅ Collaboration and Field Execution

**Q: Can project teams add notes or collaborate inside tasks?**
A: Yes. Tasks support internal notes, running commentary, and chronological updates. This works well for distributed teams and handovers where multiple people contribute across time zones.

---

## ✅ Status and Scheduling

**Q: How do statuses work for Multi Task Work?**
A: Multi Task Work has two different levels of status:

* **Task Status** – the status of an individual Task within the Multi Task Work
* **Overall Work Status** – the status of the Multi Task Work as a whole

The status displayed depends on whether you are viewing the individual Tasks or the overall Multi Task Work.

---

**Q: Which status is displayed on the Gantt and Calendar?**
A: The **Gantt and Calendar display individual Tasks** within Multi Task Work.

When an individual Task has a **Staff member or Contractor assigned**, it is displayed on the Gantt and Calendar using the status of that specific Task.

This means Tasks belonging to the same Multi Task Work can have different statuses as they progress independently.

**Calendar – Individual Task Status**

---

**Q: Which status is displayed in Work Summary?**
A: The **Work Summary displays the Overall Work Status of the Multi Task Work**, rather than the status of an individual Task.

For example, individual Tasks may be at different stages of execution on the Gantt and Calendar while the overall Multi Task Work displays **In Field Progress** in Work Summary.

**Work Summary – Overall Multi Task Work Status**

> 💡 **Remember:** The Gantt and Calendar show the status of individual Tasks, while Work Summary shows the Overall Work Status of the Multi Task Work.

---

**Q: Why can the status in Work Summary be different from the status I see on the Gantt or Calendar?**
A: They represent different levels of the Multi Task Work.

The **Gantt and Calendar are Task-level views**, so they display the status of each individual Task. The **Work Summary is an overall Work-level view**, so it displays the Overall Work Status of the Multi Task Work.

The Overall Work Status is set from the **Settings** screen for that specific Multi Task Work.

---

## ✅ Budgeting and Cost Control

**Q: How are budgets managed in Dusk FSM?**
A: Budgets can be manually entered or imported into the platform. Teams can set baselines and draw down budgets using purchase orders, time entries, or cost updates to support progressive tracking.

---

**Q: Can Dusk FSM manage segmented budgets like land, soft, and hard costs?**
A: Yes, however this may require validation or customization depending on how structured the source Excel budget is. Dusk FSM supports budget categories and structured imports, but complex segmented formats may need mapping.

---

## ✅ Risk, Issues, Actions, and Change Control

**Q: What risk management capabilities does Dusk FSM offer?**
A: Dusk FSM includes a dedicated area for managing **risks, issues, actions, and change requests**. Risks can be categorized, assigned, and reported. The risk matrix is configurable using **impact vs likelihood** weighting.

---

**Q: Can users report on all risks associated with a project?**
A: Yes. Risks can be included in project-level reporting, including Work in Progress reporting alongside scope, schedule, cost, and resource details.

---

**Q: Does Dusk FSM support change request approvals?**
A: Yes. Change requests can be routed through approvals using workflow automation rules, including thresholds such as dollar value. Approvals can be triggered via email and web. The mobile apps are more focused on field execution than approvals.

---

**Q: Does Dusk FSM support multi-tier approval chains?**
A: Not out of the box. Current workflows support **single-stage conditional approvals** (for example by value, role, or rule). Multi-tier sequential approvals would require customization.

---

**Q: Can Dusk FSM report on cumulative approved change request values?**
A: Not yet. Change requests can be reported individually, however the platform does not currently aggregate approved values into a single cumulative dashboard or report. This is a potential enhancement area.

---

## ✅ Permissions and Access Control

**Q: Does Dusk FSM control access by role, region, and project?**
A: Yes. Dusk FSM supports granular permissioning, including role-based access control and project or regional visibility rules. Access can also be managed via **Microsoft Active Directory** for enterprise deployments.

---

**Q: Are roles impacted when platform updates are released?**
A: No. Default and custom role configurations remain intact during regular updates. If new modules are introduced, you may choose to review roles to align permissions with new functionality.

---

## ✅ Reporting

**Q: Does Dusk FSM offer project-level reporting?**
A: Yes. Dusk FSM supports project-level reporting including Work in Progress reporting, configurable RAG statuses, commentary fields, milestone tracking, and branded PDF exports.
