## 📌 Overview

The **Project Timeline View** in **Dusk FSM** provides a Gantt-style interface for visualizing and managing project tasks across a timeline. It enables you to:

* Track task start and end dates
* Adjust durations with drag-and-drop
* View dependencies and hierarchy
* Monitor resource availability and milestones

This view is ideal for **project managers**, **operations leads**, and **team leaders** managing both field and office workstreams.

## 🧭 Accessing the Timeline View

To get started:

1. Navigate to **Work** in the left-hand menu
2. Select your project
3. Click the **Timeline View** tab

All project tasks will be displayed on a horizontal time axis. You’ll see:

* Color-coded task bars (based on status)
* Dependency lines
* Parent-child task groupings
* **🔷 Diamond-shaped milestones**

👉 *Tip: Task bar colors can be customized via the color picker in the Task View tab.*

## 🛠️ Adjusting Task Start Dates

To move a task to a new start date:

* Click the task bar
* **Drag it left or right** to shift its position
* The task duration remains unchanged

Perfect for rescheduling based on resource availability or project delays.

To change how long a task runs:

* Hover over the **start or end** of the task bar
* Click and **drag** to resize the task
* Release to apply the new timeframe

## ✅ Creating Dependencies Between Tasks

Dependencies show how tasks are linked and ensure proper execution sequence.

To create a dependency:

1. Click on the **end** of one task bar
2. **Drag** a line to the **start or end** of the next task
3. Check the color of the line:

* 🟢 **Green** = Valid dependency
   * 🔴 **Red** = Invalid or conflict exists

This feature helps maintain scheduling integrity and reduces the risk of overlapping or misaligned work.

## 🔗 Visualizing Parent-Child Relationships

Parent and child tasks are shown in an indented hierarchy:

* **Parent tasks** group multiple related child tasks
* **Child tasks** appear nested under their parent
* Use this structure for tracking phases, milestones, or work packages
