## What Does the Log Bulk Request Button Do in Dusk FSM

The **Log Bulk Request** button creates the same Work or Leave request for multiple Staff members at once. It is useful for public holidays, company shutdowns, training, internal meetings and other planned activities involving several people.

Bulk requests follow the configured approval workflow. Depending on the user’s permissions, the request can either be submitted for approval or approved when it is created.

### When Should I Use Log Bulk Request

Use **Log Bulk Request** when several Staff members need the same planned request recorded.

Common examples include:

* public holidays;
* company shutdown periods;
* scheduled leave;
* training days;
* internal meetings;
* compliance activities;
* company-wide events.

This avoids creating the same request separately for every person.

### What Is the Difference Between Work and Leave Requests

Every request type is configured as either **Work** or **Leave**.

#### Work Requests

Use a Work request for planned activities that count as working time, such as:

* training;
* internal meetings;
* site visits;
* compliance activities;
* company events.

#### Leave Requests

Use a Leave request for time when the person will not be working, such as:

* annual leave;
* public holidays;
* sick leave;
* company shutdowns;
* other approved absences.

Select the request type that matches how the time should be recorded and reported by your organisation.

### Create a Time Request Type

A request type must be configured before it can be selected in a bulk request.

1. Go to **Personnel > Time Sheets > Settings > Type**.
2. Select **+ Type** to create a new type, or select the **eye icon** to edit an existing type.
3. Enter a clear name for the request type.
4. Choose **Work** or **Leave**.
5. Save the request type.

The saved request type will then be available when users create individual or bulk requests.

### Log a Bulk Request

To create a request for multiple Staff members:

1. Go to **Personnel > Time Sheets > Requests**.
2. Select **Log Bulk Request**.
3. Select the Staff members who should receive the request.
4. Use **Select All** if the request applies to everyone visible to you.
5. Choose the required **Request Type**.
6. Enter the **From Date** and **To Date**.
7. Select **Full Day**, **Half Day** or **Custom**.
8. Add notes if further information is required.
9. Select **Save** or **Save & Approve**, depending on your permissions.

The Staff members available for selection depend on your team visibility and role permissions.

### Choose the Request Duration

The following duration options are available:

* **Full Day** records the request for the complete working day.
* **Half Day** records the request for half of the working day.
* **Custom** lets you enter a specific duration and start time.

For a custom duration, enter time using the supported format, such as:

* `1d` for one day;
* `1h` for one hour;
* `0.5h` for half an hour.

Review the selected dates, duration and Staff members before saving the bulk request.

### Save or Approve the Request

The action available depends on your assigned role permissions:

* **Save** submits the bulk request through the configured approval workflow.
* **Save & Approve** creates and approves the request immediately.

Users without approval permission will not see **Save & Approve**.

### Review the Request Status

After a request has been submitted, its status and colour indicate its progress.

* Approved requests appear in **green**.
* Rejected requests appear in **red**.
* Requests awaiting a decision remain subject to the configured approval workflow.

### Log Bulk Request or Log Bulk Time

These actions serve different purposes:

| Action               | Use it when                                                                                                  |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Log Bulk Request** | You need to create planned Work or Leave requests for multiple Staff members, potentially requiring approval |
| **Log Bulk Time**    | You need to record Time Sheet entries directly for multiple Staff members                                    |

Use **Log Bulk Request** for planned events and absences. Use **Log Bulk Time** when the time has already been worked or needs to be entered directly into the Time Sheets.

### Frequently Asked Questions

#### Can I create a bulk request for every Staff member?

You can select all Staff members visible to you. Team visibility and role permissions determine who appears in the selection list.

#### Can I use a bulk request for a public holiday?

Yes. Create or select an appropriate Leave request type, select the affected Staff members and enter the public holiday date.

#### Can I create bulk requests for training?

Yes. Configure training as a Work request type, then create the request for the participating Staff members.

#### Why can I not see Save and Approve?

Your assigned role may not include approval permission. Use **Save** to submit the request for approval or ask your Dusk FSM Administrator to review your permissions.

#### Why is a request type missing?

The request type may not have been created or may not be configured correctly. Go to **Personnel > Time Sheets > Settings > Type** to review the available types.

#### Can I add different durations for different Staff members in one bulk request?

A bulk request applies the selected request type, dates and duration to the chosen Staff members. Create separate requests when different people require different dates or durations.
