Creating **Work** in Dusk FSM is simple and intuitive. Whether you're just starting out or handling work for multiple customers, this guide walks you through the essential steps to create field work from scratch.

## ✅ Step-by-Step: Manually Create Work

### **Step 1: Open the Work Menu**

Click the **Work** icon (📦 three stacked boxes) on the left sidebar.

### **Step 2: Click +Work**

This opens the **Work creation screen**. Use this method for one-off or ad-hoc work items.

### **Step 3: Fill Out the Work Details**

Each field guides the office and field teams to complete work efficiently:

| Field                   | Required?       | Purpose                                                                                                              |
| ----------------------- | --------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Reference ID            | No              | Used by office and field staff to identify the work item. If left blank, a default will be assigned.                 |
| Priority                | Yes             | Choose urgency (e.g. Low, Medium, High). Color-coded for visibility.                                                 |
| Allocated Time          | Yes             | Total time estimated for the work, including travel time. Format: `30m`, `1h`, `2d`.                                 |
| PO Reference            | No              | Customer purchase order reference for billing or tracking.                                                           |
| Type                    | Yes             | Defines the work activity, such as completing a Form or Task. Use the icon to create a new Form in the Form Builder. |
| Category                | No              | Groups work by type. Useful for filtering on the Map when managing multiple work categories.                         |
| Description             | No              | Instructions or context for the field team.                                                                          |
| Choose                  | Yes             | Select the association type (Customer, Asset, Store, etc.). The right-hand field adapts automatically.               |
| Name / Phone / Email    | No              | Contact details for the selected association.                                                                        |
| Secondary Location      | No              | Optional second site (e.g. billing location vs service location).                                                    |
| Location (Map)          | Auto-filled     | Confirms the address. Drag the pin to fine-tune the work location.                                                   |
| Start / End Date & Time | Yes             | Defines when the work begins and ends. Supports repeat schedules and all-day work.                                   |
| Overall Work Status     | Yes             | Indicates current progress. Starts as **Unassigned** and updates as staff or crews are assigned and dispatched.      |
| Skills                  | No              | Ensures work is dispatched only to staff with required skills (configured under Personnel → Staff → Skills).         |
| Assign                  | No              | Assign the work to a staff member, contractor, or crew.                                                              |
| SLA Target Times        | Auto-calculated | Displays response and resolution targets when SLAs are enabled.                                                      |
| Work Summary            | No              | Internal notes for office use only (not shown to field staff).                                                       |
| Files                   | No              | Attach documents, images, or PDFs relevant to the work.                                                              |

### **Dispatch Options**

* **Dispatch Now** – Immediately send to a field resource
* **Dispatch Later** – Choose a time to dispatch
* **Save Only** – Leave in Scheduled status for later updates or dispatch via Calendar or Gantt

### **Step 4: Advanced Work Fields (Optional)**

If enabled in Settings, you may also see:

* **Work Readiness** – Pre-checks such as permits, materials, or approvals
* **Equipment** – Link specialised assets (e.g. diggers, cranes)
* **Work Type** – Apply a predefined template combining forms and settings

### **Scheduled vs Dispatched Work**

**Scheduled** = planning only
**Dispatched** = triggers notifications + mobile visibility

**Notifications are only sent when work is dispatched and only to the Staff or Contractor with the gold crown icon, showing the Lead**

## 🔌 Work from External Sources

If Work is imported from systems such as HubSpot, Cumulocity, or CSV files:

* Items appear as **Unassigned** by default
* Use the **Calendar** or **Gantt** view to drag and drop them onto a resource for dispatch

## 🧺 Pro Tip: Use Baskets for Recurring Work

For large, repetitive workloads, use **Baskets** to group work items together.
This is ideal for cyclical inspections such as store audits or routine maintenance.

## 💡 Optional: Enable Fast Work Create (Advanced)

Once you’re familiar with creating Work, you can speed things up using **Fast Create** (⚡ three stacked boxes with a lightning bolt in the top menu).

### To configure Fast Work Create:

1. Go to **Work → Settings → Default Work Settings**
2. Choose a **Work Type**, **Priority**, and **Form Template**
3. Save your settings
